Have you ever stared at a fiXed point for an extended period, as if spacing out? Chuchumi is a word in Kuti, the Akateko language (a Mayan language spoken by the Akateko people), that describes the place your mind goes when you're gazing into that infinite space.
This piece is my attempt to aurally illustrate what Chuchumi feels like to me. It is based on the recycling and digital processing of vocal stems from my own songs, as well as field recordings of Northern Michigan’s natural environment.
